A Lot with a Little

How to accommodate a busy young woman's desire to have a low- maintenance yard to host parties, grow vegetables and enjoy sun bathing all within a small space and small budget?  Keep it simple and add a touch of whimsy!

We gathered wine bottles from family and friends and buried them upside down to create a colorful edge to the planting beds. These curving lines give a feeling of flow and space to the very small rectangular outdoor spaces.

Pea gravel over compacted gravel provides an inexpensive surface for tables and chairs and makes for easy maintenance.

To stay within budget only a few shrubs were planted for structural emphasis. More plants will be added over time as her budget allows in this space designed to be flexible and accommodating.
