The before and after view of Harry's Backyard

Grandparents' Pride

This design grew from the owners' desire to have a simple back porch on which to barbeque. These active grandparents saw the rest of the back yard as an unwelcoming, uninteresting expanse.  As we explored ideas they began to expand their scope and became intrigued with the thought of outdoor "rooms"  that not only they would enjoy, but their grandchildren as well.

As it stood, the yard was not user friendly.  There wasn't even a door leading out into it. The new design adds french doors and a small deck with wide stairs to create an easy indoor-outdoor connection.

There's now a dining "room" patio which includes a water feature to mask the sound of the nearby freeway and a trellis for shade and privacy. Nearby an outdoor barbeque sits on the new west porch which is covered and usable year round. There's a nook for sitting around a fire pit and there's a shaded seating space overlooking a small lawn. The lawn size is perfect for the grand kids to play with a  water-fountain close by for thirsty summer days.

The design style is clean and geometric to compliment the owners' tastes and their ranch style house. These clients love their new yard and enjoy spending time outdoors. The grandchildren love to come visit, too.
